Well Emirates has done it!

EK201
ETA 2:15pm
A380
EK202
ETD 23:00pm
A380

First scheduled A380 flights to JFK and the US at the current moment.

So unfortunately we won't be able to catch the beast on a Howard Beach bank but we will be able to catch her over Cargo Plaza, that will be something!

Ahhh, fantastic!! October '08...that gives me PLENTY of time to find an infant, and perhaps a frizbee or football to bring in addition to my wide-angle lens. :P :P :P

No seriously, maybe this time I will get a decent properly lit shot off of her.

Excuse my ignorance, but why not a Howard Beach bank shot?

Howard Beach shots are departures. This flight is scheduled to depart at night, so bankshots would be difficult in the dark.

So looks like an interesting Sept/Oct 2008 for us -- LGA Kids Day, EK 380, UN visitors -- I can't wait.

Sorry, she probably won't be arriving over Cargo Plaza. In all probability, she'll arrive on Rwy. 22L, not on 13L. I am not even sure if Rwy 13L/31R has been widened for the A380. After arrival on 22L, she'll taxy to the IAB (Terminal 4) where Emirates parks. The late-night departure means that I can't view her from my window where I see 31L Canarsie departures.

Among other EK innovations, she's going to have a shower onboard...Unfortunately, for first class only...

I would assume all JFK runways are A380 capable, as weather/runway closures will mean 22L is not always available.

The article mentions that adjustments were made to all existing runways and taxiways to accommodate the A380.
