Spirit Returning A-321 Fleet to lessors.

I was surprised to read on another site that all Spirt A-321's will be gone from the fleet by the end of the 1st quarter of 2008. In fact they are already down to 4, with 583 and 584 already returned. I understand popular white A-321 N586NK is going to Monarch in the UK and the rest Gulf Air or TAM, but not confirmed. It sounds like the airplane is just to big for NK to fly profitably. I do undertand there will be some A-320's coming in the future. I hope some of you shot some at FLL Sunday ?

This really disappoints me. THANKFULLY, I finally got a photo of 586 yesterday...which has been oneof my favorite registrations for a while now. Mel and I flew on it last year in FLL and yesterday that's where I got the shot.

Spirit is going about some major changes. I wish we had a better idea of just how they are performing financially. No one gets to see their numbers.

Sounds like NK is going to keep their two owned 321's after all, 587 and 588NK, to supplement their upcoming A-320 deliveries, perhaps they will even get repainted? I understand all the leased ones are now gone and several are now going to Jetstar (Qantas sub.) Even with only two 321's I would imagine one will still do NK705, the first and early AM departure LGA-FLL, as it is the one that feeds their Caribbean-Latin America primary bank and LGA is a huge feed for it.

On a side note saw N533NK at LGA the other day, first NK 319 actually delivered new (2-8-08) in the new scheme.

Sorry Steve but as my post from last night states all the leased ones (that includes 586) are gone. It was recieved by Monarch on Feb 22nd.

Did a little research at work today, the weekday routings for the two remaining 321's are

LGA-FLL-SJU....SJU-MCO-DTW
DTW-MCO-SJU..SJU-FLL-LGA

Yes it does actually, I need to find a place to get some photos of it.

I actually mentioned that to the guys out spotting today, I said "Hey guys, look out there, you can see the tail of the white Spirit A321"
