I met up with John Jauchler and Adam Wright tonight in Atlanta. John is here in ATL on business and Adam is now an Atlanta resident since he was hired with ASA. I gave these guys a tour of the simulator shop (took the MD-90 and 737-200Adv simulators for a spin) as well as the Technical Operations Center. Here's some of the highlights of the night.

This aircraft is ex-Delta (N106DA, c/n 22218), seen here in Bay 12 for a fresh coat of ABX Air-themed paint. She was recently converted to a 767-232(BDSF) freighter in Tel Aviv. Note that the aircraft is up on jacks during repaint.

Notice anything missing? Her horizontal stabilizer was removed for repair. This was our "gag" shot of the night.

US Airways used the Delta Air Lines TechOps engine turn-up area tonight to troubleshoot an engine fault. She checked out good and was taxied back to her gate shortly after this shot was taken. Note the FedEx DC-10 landing in the background.

The latest ex-AA/TWA 757-2Q8 ETOPS for Delta. She'll soon be flown down to Lake City, FL for winglets installation and then enter service with Delta shortly thereafter. This is N721TW.

And finally, the highlight of the night - F-HAVN of L'Avion. She visited the TOC for a port engine change. We were totally caught off guard when we entered TOC North. Quite a surprise considering this aircraft (ex-Condor) is their sole aircraft.

Probably the most RARE aircraft I have ever photographed in Atlanta to date.

it's interesting what airplanes come through DL TOC, like the L'Avion 757. must be nice to be the only place that can practically build an airplane around... everybody comes there when thier ship is broke.

Lovely shots Chris...seems like you really had a good time - and the DL wharfts really look like an awesome place to snap a shot or three.

Well done on the L'avion shot!

Nice shots Chris! La'Avion had that bird out for service last week aswell, they were hiring other charter companies to fill in.

Dang, that's too bad for them. Talk about not delivering the product you paid for...

Who were they using to replace their broken bird?

Titan, NAA, and one other, I think. If I was either one of those planes waiting to take me across the pond after paying an arm and a leg I'd be ticked off to.

I wonder how they got her down there on one engine?

Same way it would with 2 engines ;) The 757 is more then capable of taking off and landing with one engine. That's to say the engine was bad to begin with, these birds aren't all to new so it could have been a scheduled swap out and she could have arrived under the power of 2 engines.

That is correct, Titan and NAA. I was wondering why they went to ATL last night. They must have cancelled last nights flight to Paris though.

Nice shots Chris, but all you had to do was come to EWR to get L'Avion.

you only use 3 jacks to lift a 767? all i see is one tail and two main. is that it? have you ever been around to witness a gear swing? i was able to observe one on a chautatuqua EMB-145. airplane came in one day and the right main strut suffered a leak and collapsed on landing. the airplane spent the night in the hangar and was good to go the next morning after a gear swing and taxi test.

Three jacks, yessir. I've withnessed a full landing gear replacement on a 757 and 767 as well as countless jack jobs and swings of F/A-18s during my time in the USN.

The Titan 757 is in VIP config and I'm sure is a better product than the L'Avion product being it's English and not French ;-)
