I've seen catering trucks along Rockaway Blvd., but this was a new type of spotting.

As I was walking through Canal and Broadway there was a huge flatbed truck blocking the entire intersection. Apparently the truck went through thinking traffic would move along and there would be space for it, but traffic got jammed and the truck had nowhere to go.

On it was a single metal dolly with Continental markings. I looked up and there was a jet engine with a Rolls-Royce cover protecting it. It looked like a Trent 500 or 800. The only thing on the cover was a packaging slip with Iberia-marked tape.

The truck was driving towards the West Side, so I'll guess it was coming from JFK and going to EWR...but for who?

A very cool sighting, and I wish I had my camera with me.

Interesting you bring this up, Winglets. Almost daily on my drive to school, I see a single GE90s wrapped up in some sort of Tyvek, on a flatbed going down Rt. 78 (west). How do I know they're GE90's? Cause they're fking huge! I have no idea where they're going but I'm assuming they're coming from EWR.

I'm surprised the truck on Canal and Bwy didn't have an escort and was allowed in lower Manhattan especially if it was going to EWR. If it was coming from JFK the truck could have taken the Conduit to Linden Caton on to 65th then the Verrazano. A more out of the way route but less congested. Although now that I think about it I wonder if the Verrazano is opened to flatbed traffic of that size with the never ending construction and all.
