Looks like tonights Zoom flight to LGW had some issues and ended up coming back to JFK after an hour and a half in the air....Some nice holding there over the Hampton VOR! Anyone know what happened?

This must be the incident I heard about. The one I heard about though said they encountred mech. problems with an engine, diverted to BDA than back to JFK. Unless this is maybe the second problem for them and they diverted back or this might have been a test flight. I am not sure and Zoom is one of the few carriers I do not have a friend at here states side that could tell me. Looks like I need to go out and mingle a little bit more at JFK.

I think this was a test flight. There was one on 10/21 too.

This morning I saw a Zoom aircraft (could not see the type, only the tip of the tail) parked near the AA hangar, who I presume is doing their mx work.

I too thought that it might be a test flight as I've heard of their string of bad luck lately. However, unless its a Flight Aware mess up (which is entirely possible) they filed to London and the route is there, but it shows that they diverted back to JFK.... :?:

I can confirm it was an mx problem and not a test flight.

There was a big thread on this that they had a mx problem on a flight the 19th or 20th and had to return to JFK from Bermuda. They've had 2 round robin flights to and from JFK the past 2 days since then with the 767 while a 757 covered the route. So are we talking about the same flights?

I never saw it leave, but I can confirm it left our hanger around 15.00, presumably for a stand at T4.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but someone said that AA was doing the MX work on the Zoom 763, which makes sense since they maintain their own fleet of 763's as well. I once saw an Air Jamaica A320 or A321 in Hangar 10 when I rode past it on the Airtrain (this was several years ago). Does AA do contract Maintenance on the Airbus narrowbodies as well? I wouldn't have thought so since the only one in their fleet is the A300.

I've also seen a LAN 767-300 before in the AA hangars.
