Spotting recap for West EYW,NQX,TMB,MTH,MIA,FLL, Marathon (MTH), MIA and FLL.
I met up with MIA Photog Roberto Collazo at 7am and then headed down to Key West to shoot the Cubana AN-26. After shooting at EYW we took a tour or so and took in the sights and sounds of Key West before heading back to MIA. I'm glad to finally get down there to see what the keys are like. On day 2 I spent the day at MIA and the on thw way home stopped off at FLL again. Heres a few from the trip. Too many to post so I'll post some of the more interesting shots, angles in no particular order.

We don't get to see them in NY, maybe that's it.

Nice collection there Senga! I'd love to see those Santa Barbra DC10s come to the states but the 757 is very cool.

Thanks guys,
JZ1, I added the ATR because I Love EGF ATRs and it was at Key West. Wanted to add a airline form there other than the CUB AN24.

I just change it from the EGF to this TAB DC-10 I shot Crappy shot but I haven't hear of it before.
Alos I forgot the NATO 707 was back it was blocked this time thank goodness I already have a shot from before.

Tommy,
I'd do anything to see another Passenger DC-10. I'm sure MIA hasnt seen the last of them though.

lijk604,
How did you know it was the Mosquito sprayer?

FlightAware is your friend. A lot of info can be gleaned from it.

Which P-51 was that and where was it shot?

SengaB

Steve,
The P-51 was taken at Key West along with the other "vintage" planes.
The registration on the aircraft is NL51MV but its actual registration in the database is N51MV.

lijk604,
Oh ok , I was asking becuase I saw that written on the tail of the aicraft but haven't ran the registration yet. For regs I mainly use The FAA database (U.S.), Airframes.org for non U.S. and a few other supporting databases. Although it does have some useful aspects I have never been big fan of flightaware.

Sorry Mark,
I won't be down there for a few weeks unless something interesting shows up. So you will have some time to recover :)

Great photos!!!

Is it easy to get ramp access? Or is it impossible for normal visitors like me? (I will spend my summer holiday next year in MIA area) Is it possible to take photos at NQX?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Thanks,
In MIA one doesn't really need access to get pictures usually. If you do need access you can probably just ask someone to get onto the ramp with the exception of MIA.
About NQX...you need to have I'd to get onto the base. Or you can just shoot from the outside along Route one. Not too much action there though it seems.

Sorry to dig this old thread up, but I usually spot at MIA, and I'm curious to know where you got the VarigLOG picture from. I dont think I've ever gotten that angle.

Its no problem Eddie.,
I had just left MIA and was on 836 east heading home. As I was driving it landed right next to me. I pulled over and shot it through like 6 or 8 lanes of traffic on 836. I was LUCKY I must add.

Eddie,
Yes I was very lucky.....It just means either one less trip tio MIA or one less aircraft I have to try to get. Varig Log Doesn't show up on the trackers so its a hard one to get. I missed the Air France A320 2 times now. Hopfully I will get it next time I head to MIA.

Thanks Ketko,
I will probably be there at the end of the month.

Senga: The A320's if I am not mistaken come in the early morning with the cargo rush inbound from Martinique. There is also a Martinair A319 I believe that comes in around the same hour from San Jose.

Eddie.,
Within 30 mins at MIA they get MPH MD-11, 767 and A320..its quite amazing.
That is true MIA and MCO both get MPH A320s from San jose.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff1/aviophotog/mph03.jpg

The Air Fance A320s from aircraft come from Pointe A Pitre, Guadeloupe (TFFR) to Port Au Prince, Haiti (MTPP) then to MIA. I screwed up getting a shot of that one the last 2 times I tried to.......ARGH!

That MPH A320 is nice...I remember when MPH leased the Miami Air 737's and painted it in MPH colors for that route. That was hard to catch.

I remember that too. I wish I was down here for that then. I would have enjoyed getting that one.
