Flooding is real bad in Long Beach. My sister left class to go home and ensure my dog is okay and says the bay came up over the dock onto the yard and onto roads etc etc... I am probably going to leave in daylight to go home or shortly there after though it appears to be nothing more than a strong storm. I have no0t looked at weather computers past a basic radar image so far.

>though it appears to be nothing more than a strong storm.<

Lol, "Nothing more"? What a nasty sob storm. I got off the LIRR at Hicksville at 5:35 and
basically the sky EXPLODED!!! Twice I had to pull over because of the heavy rain and also had
to detour because of flooding and a downed tree. Then I get home and we have no power. Typing
this by candlelight. My son was coming in from Manhattan and the LIRR had suspended service
because of high water in Mineola. With all the crazy warm weather we have had lately it usually
ends like this when a cold front moves through. Already it feels nicer and two LIPA trucks just
drove down my street so maybe I'll get to see "Ugly Betty" after all. LOL!!

Tell me about it. Could here it inside Ikea and inside the book store in the mall. Couldn't even get back across the street to pick up the car at Sears until almost 7. By that time the Nortern State had flooded and closed causing Broadway to back up almost back to the mall. Heading east the back up due closed westbound Northern State went back to Minetto Hill Rd.

I didn't have an umbrella on me yesterday, as it wasn't raining when I left the house.

It started coming down mid afternoon, and I figured the hard part would let up a bit by the time I left work. I was wrong.

I never got so drenched in my life.

I was able to wait it out at work. When I got off the N at Astoria Blvd, I noticed the GCP was blocked off by police cars. Accident I thought. Then I looked down and noticed the road, which dips a little go under 31st St, was covered by 3 or 4 feet of water.

Traffic to the Triborough Bridge was forced to get off at 31st St, wait for the light, then use the one-lane street entrance to the bridge. Glad I wasn't sitting in that mess.

When I finally made it home from LGA around 0230 this morning it was almost entirely dry on the roads. I got home and it opened up again for a bit. Back to work now and buuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrr.
