So a few weeks ago Mario was by with the family and he brought a bag of popcorn. So I indulged in it and asked him what brand, to my surprise it wasn't microwave popcorn but cooked on the stovetop using kernels. So I've been in this fresh food craze lately and I've been making my popcorn the old fashion way and its SOOOOO much better tasting then the microwave. I'm still dabbling with the oil to popcorn mixture but so far I'm very pleased! So how do you take you're popcorn?

Ha! I cannot believe you posted this, I just bought some fresh kernels and a bottle of Orville Redenbacher popcorn oil a few hours ago. I usually just use vegetable oil, but I saw this today and had to try it. I'll post my results when I make my next batch.

But it has been quite a long quest trying to create the perfect batch of popcorn. I've heard that the best results come from using Coconut oil, but I can't seem to find any. I am contemplating building my own popcorn popper, like the ones at carnivals and such (mostly because I like to build things).

I havent played with coconut oil but if I find any, I'll apprise you of my results.

usually I use Extra virgin olive oil or Sesame oil. Yummy

Glad to hear you all get good results.

What was funny was how fresh and tasty Tom found the popcorn to be and it was 3-4 days old. I popped it then stored it in zipper lock bags. I usually find I can keep it fresh for 7-9 days.

Popt some kernels last night then hit the hay cause I was poopt.

Try peanut oil. Organic if possible. It has great heat tolerance and adds a nice smoky kind of flavor to the corn. Then drown in a mixture of olive oil and salty butter.
