View Full Version : LGA Airline Collectibles Show - 11/10/07

2007-09-09, 08:28 PM
Saturday, November 10th, at the Marriot Courtyard will be the annual LGA Collectibles Show and Sale.

The hours are from 9am-4pm.

Admission is $5.

The Marriot Courtyard is NOT the large Marriot close to the southern end of the airport, but is the one that is across the street from the Vaughn College of Aeronautics, a block from Planeview Park.

The collectible shows are a GREAT way to find all kinds of airline-related items that you might collect. Aside from the more common models, safety cards, magazines, etc, there is almost anything that you could possibly imagine. If it exists and has an airline logo....you'll find it there. Just keep an eye on how much you spend, as it is temptation to the highest.

Hate to call you out Ryan, but you didn't buy anything last year.

I went last year too but will not be attending this year. Just isn't worth traveling 1400 miles for.

I will most likely do plenty of spotting at Planeview depending if runway 4 is being used or even the runway 22 depatures as well.
at the last years Airline collectable show, everything was departing from runway 22. And not to forget that my birthday is on the same day. Ill probably be wharing my United Airlines sweater that day in case any recognizes me lol.

Depending on weather, i hope to get out to spotting early, and then make my way over to the show until noon or a little after.

I was ABLE, but decided not to. I (we) didn't have enough time to prepare anything for it, as we've been working hard on other projects.

Hope to see lots of you guys there.
I twisted Art's arm, he now has a table.
I'm going to be helping out with the TEB Aviation Hall of Fame Museum's tables.
We will have a good selection of memorabilia.

is planeview park next to the Marriot Courtyard? I think that the rain may be part of a front. so the winds may come from the north, bring the planes towards the north..if thats what they need. (winds from the north).

Even though Saturdays forecast does not sound great for photography the Port has confirmed Runway 13-31 will be closed for 30 hours from 0001 Saturday to 0600 Sunday for Taxiway Bravo construction. So based on forecasted winds for Saturday probably up and down Runway 4 all day. Also no US Special Scheme 319's are currently scheduled for Saturday. I look forward to seeing some of you at the show !

Cheers

Maria Massielle and her dad (me) had a great time today, our first aviation related event we've done with just the two of us. It was great seeing so many of our group, a good time for sure. And the weather ended up being a lot better than I expected, and the up and down 4 config made for a nice noisy perk !

Cheers

Hey thats me in red jacket
It was nice to meet and see a lot of people there. It was a great show with a great variety of models and other items. I bought 5 models which are British Airways 747-400, Continental 737-800, Emirates 777-300, Fed Ex MD-11, and LOT 787 all in 1:400 scale. I will come back next year for sure.

I think there was a very good overall turnout for this year's show. From the sounds of it, the vendors were making much more money than in previous years.

It was great getting to hang out a bit with people at the show, and not have to worry about keeping an eye on a table.

OK, with the photo showing "AirtrafficController" , that table is displaying the Inflight 1:200 models.
I broke down and got the white Eastern "whisperjet" 727.
Plus a 1960 and 1962 Delta timetable showing off the jet CV-880.

The other photo is showing off the JAL cutaway display model 1:36 scale. 6 feet long.
The vendor sold it for $1,500.00 quickly!
(If that model was in National, Eastern or Delta I would have been in VERY BIG TROUBLE!)

I got 13 safety cards, most of them Varig.

I actually don't like to pay for safety cards, but almost all of the collectors are in Europe and with the extraordinarily high mailing prices, I end up paying $1-2 in postage per card, so buying at a show can make sense, unfortunately.

I bought EuroAtlantic L-1011 and AirTransat A330 saftey cards. Also got a Qatar Airways DVD. I didn't get any models becasue they were all in 1/400 :( , and im a 1/500 guy 8)

Phil was so right in his opening post. It is so tempting to buy anything there.

When in Australia last year, all I wanted to see was a glimpse of the Socceroos plane. And was very lucky to get her with only 3 hours in SYD to shoot.

I saw a 400 model of her at hte LGA show. I loved it and really wanted it and yet....while I have some 400s, I like sticking with 200 and 250s.

Still wondering if I shoulda gotten it though :?:

Im another 1:500 guy as well. I bought a Midwest 717, CSA A310, Airtran NC 717, Airbus house colrs A340-600 and an Air France 747-400ERF with the nose that goes up and down from Herpa Wings. I was hoping to get an AA MD-82, Delta MD-90 and Continental 757-200W 1:500 scale from Herpa but they didnt have them. :x

If so, that was from me.
