Boeing Co. said that a 777-200 extended range airplane built for Korean Air is the 3,000th plane built at its Everett assembly plant.

The 40-year-old facility builds 747, 767 and 777 planes and will build the upcoming 787. Officials at Chicago-based Boeing (NYSE: BA) said more than 80 percent of the airplanes built in Everett, or 2,610, are still in service.

The first plane built at the Everett facility was a 747 that was delivered to now-defunct Pan American World Airways.
