Hi Guys,
Do any of you know any places around SJU where I can take pictures from? I'm staying in the Courtyard by the runway but unfortunately they gave me ocean view room :(
Thanks,
Rafal

You say that like an Ocean View room in the Caribbean is a bad thing. LOL!

I stayed at the Courtyard last August and found that from the top level of the stairs which are on the outside of the building you can get some really nice views of the runway threshold as well as views of the aircraft taxiing around the airport. On the top level you will have a view which is much higher above the tree line but does not offer a direct view down onto the runway.
Another great spotting location at the airport is the Aeroparque which is not hard to miss and is essentially a spotters deck with awesome views of the runway and the taxiway. Aircraft come very close to the Aeroparque so you can get some very great shots. I believe it is open everyday of the week except Tuesday and Wednesday.
Somewhere along the beach adjacent to the airport you can get some very nice banking shots of the aircraft after they are up off the runway and over the tree line although I haven't found the spot yet.
I'll let you know that the Courtyard is NOT sound proof and YOU will hear the aircraft all ALL hours! :D

Thanks Iberia!!! I'm going right now to the top level :) I'm staying on the 11th floor. And yes, I can hear the airplanes very loud and clear :) Just missed Copa EMB-195 :(
Lijk I've requested airport view not ocean view. I want to take some pictures of the airplanes not the ships :)

Thanks again!

That's pretty much the same view I had. :)
Shame the weather isn't looking great although the storms pass pretty quickly down there.

Down on the beach, not that beach but down a little furthur you can nail some bankers. I have to call one of my ex gf's who is from Puerto Rico to find out the name of it but when we would fly down to Puerto Rico to see her family we would usually do a little spotting without camera at SJU and BQN. BQN is quite an intresting place as well on the right day. It is a former Air Force base with a CGAS on it now. 727's and russian metal galore over there.

I visited the Aeroparque back in early March and yes the planes come very close and you could get excellent landing shots from there.

yeah Rafal that view sucks.  j/k
I'd be pissed too if I asked for an airport view and didn't get it.
But honestly, that's a tough view to be arguing with.

I'm sad to admit but I found something better than aircraft spotting. Puertorican women
I forgot all about the airport :) Maybe Friday before my return I will take some pictures at the airport :)

My mothers Puerto Rican so I guess I won't be bringing her around to any spotting events in the future since now I know what type of women NYCAviation guys prefer.

Long story short. I was drunk, and I was taking pictures at night  I forgot that I messed up setting on my camera and next day when I went to the airport to take some pictures I didn't changed them. I've lost over 200 shots :(
Here are some that I was able to salvage. Anyway, I love San Juan and Cougas :)

Here is to SJU. I might be down there in 48 hours or so myself depending on how tired I am. Are you still there? I stay at the Borinquen on the beach generally.
