Greetings,

I was mosing along the Bay Ridge Shore Promenade in Brooklyn last Saturday when I heard a single-engine prop job from the past droning up The Narrows at several thousand feet or so ... seemingly headed toward Manhattan.

I looked up ... mouth agape ... and here's what I saw. She's Navy ... Pensacola ... with yellow wings. Looks like a WWII-vintage "Texan" trainer or replica. The color scheme identifies her as pre-war ... or 1942 at the latest. Details anyone? Thanks.

Hi Mike, I saw this aircraft at the Millville airshow a few weeks ago, based on pictures on the web it might be out of Vincetown Red Lion Airport, N73.

Almost looks like this one:

although I can't really make out the N-number on the one you shot.

But since those were navy planes...
Wouldn't those be considered SNJ-5's, since it is the navy version for the texan?

The 'KR' on the tail tells you it's the Kevin Russo SNJ. (Plus you can see the reg of N211A). Russo bases his personal Bonanza out of Somerset/SMQ, I believe, but I want to say the Texan is kept somewhere in the Philadelphia metro area.
