TWA 747 ?

Hey Guys:

I would like to know if anyone can answer if TWA's 747s still had the bar in the upper deck section during the late 80's and until the 1990's. I am aware of the pictures from a-net on there, but there from 1971.

No the bars were removed in the 80s and seats were put on the upper deck.

Does anyone know what the last airline to do away with the lounge was? I remember as a child sitting up there on Pan Am to SJU, but that would have still been mid-'70s, I think they all went with deregulation but perhaps someone kept them a bit longer?

Virgin has a small bar with a few stools (there are pics on A.net) but it's not on the upper deck.

Also, Etihad on the A340-500 has a small lounge area with banquette-style seating at the front of the first class (Diamond Zone) section, which you can see here:

Not sure about VS but I understand that EY has something more elaborate planned for its A380s, but this is still under wraps so have not heard the specifics. It's safe to say that on certain routes (especially to/from the Gulf and Asia) where premium cabin is high yielding and very competitive, we will be seeing more such amenities.

Oh come on, if you look at the science of the investigation, it was dead on. Fuel fumes can ignite if coupled with O. You must remove all oxygen from a fuel tank or you have the risk of ignition.

The National Geographic Channel did a whole special on it, I wish I could find it on Youtube....

Its prob rust, rust will settle in very quickly in salt water and that part of the plane was prob down there for a decent amount of time before it was taken up.
