Apple Juice Tantrum Causes Plane To Make Emergency Landing (http://www.nbc10.com/news/13575254/detail.html)

A child's tantrum onboard a Delta commuter flight forced a pilot to make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport.

Chopper 10 was over the scene.

The forced landing was caused by a fight over apple juice.

A 4-year-old wanted apple juice and when the stewardess didn't get it quick enough, the child threw a tantrum, NBC 10 reported.

The Delta commuter flight landed around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The flight originated in New York and was headed to North Carolina before the incident.

Passengers were spending the night in Philadelphia, NBC 10 reported.

Authorities said there would be no charges filed in the incident.

Was this originating from BOS, JFK, or LGA?

Nevertheless an emergency landing for a 4 year old kid screaming? Where was the parent to control the little brat?

Wow.

EDIT- was a flight from LGA to GSO.

Man, my parents would have beat the living crap out of me if I did something like that.

I imagine the parent was a SkyMiles elite member and as such, felt entitled to free babysitting services in addition to an immediate and unlimited supply of apple juice for the lowest fare. Without knowing further details, I say good on the crew for showing how this sort of irresponsible nonsense can inconvenience everybody.

UPDATE: Seems it was a grown man, possibly who had a toddler with him. The man was arrested.

What is it that causes someone to act like that. It's beyond normal stupidity. I always wonder what someone like that has to say once they have cuffs put on them.

"bomb"

Edit: I misread Phil's post as "I always wonder what someone like that has to say to have cuffs put on them."

It's sad but I think enough time has passed since 9/11 that people feel emboldened to get arrogant with cabin crew and not worry about being branded a potential terrorist because they can always claim later they were "just standing up for their rights as a consumer," as Michael Douglas said in "Falling Down"

Was the apple juice for him or his kid?

Either way, I think that Delta should slap him with a fine equal to the cost of the diversion. That might teach him.

It was a grown male, yet hte reports are about a temper tanrum with a 4 year old?

Think I'll reserve judgement until all hte facts are in. For all we know right now, the flight crew could be to blame.

We simply do not know.
