Not sure why no one here in the complaining capital of the world reported this.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash.– Passengers on a Continental Airlines flight had to hold their noses for hours as sewage overflowed from toilets while they were high over the Atlantic.

"To be blatantly honest, I was more nervous than I had ever been on a flight," said Collin Brock. The University Place man was on board Continental Airlines flight 1970 from Amsterdam to Newark, New Jersey last week when things went bad.

"I've never felt so offended in all my life. I felt like i had been physically abused and neglected. I was forced to sit next to human excrement for seven hours," said Brock. More (with photos)... (http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW_061907WAB_continental_sewage_flight_TP.1cc511cf .html)

Probably all becuase some guy on the ramp didn't double check to make sure the lavs were dumped after the previous flight.

Don't you think there is is a seacock that shuts off the tank from the entire system? That is gross.

Probably all becuase some guy on the ramp didn't double check to make sure the lavs were dumped after the previous flight.

Then wouldn't the system be smart enough(i hope so) to alert the pilots and shut down the lavs?

Good point, Stuart. I can't say I knwo how all aircraft operate, but quite a few aircraft give you no indication whether the lavs have been dumped or not.

They really should have landed at the nearest airport... I'm assuming here that they didn't. But that is pretty nasty and a health hazard.
