Some planes date back to the 30's and earlier. Tiger Moths, Stearmen
and Monoplanes Oh MY!!!

Dear Community Member,

The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures,
and means of prevention, for numerous diseases through research and
treatment. Research efforts are directed at understanding the molecular,
genetic and chemical bases of catastrophic diseases in children,
identifying cures for such diseases, and promoting their prevention.
Research is focused specifically on cancers, acquired and inherited
immunodeficiencies, infectious diseases, and genetic disorders. The
hospital's daily operating costs are approximately $1,216,247, which are
primarily covered by public contributions.
Please come join us this Saturday to help ensure that the children at St. Jude get the treatment they deserve. Also, please spread the word about this event to as many people as possible. Thank you for your time and support.

One of the pilots brought me in to his hangar to show me the Piper Cub he is restoring - she should be ready to fly by the end of the summer:

They raffled off a few airplane rides, and then a number of the pilots started taking people up for rides. I scored a ride in this Stearman biplane - my first ride in an open cockpit biplane!

It was a fun day, topped off by an outstanding ride in the Stearman. I'll post some shots from the flight in another thread. If you get the chance, stop by Bayport for a visit. The aircraft are neat, and everyone is friendly and eager to talk about them.

Absolutely glorious photographs! Stunning. I can appreciate these old birds as without them this industry which makes the world go round would not have it's roots. I love it! true airmenship is founded on flying things like that. I will be the first to admit that like that short video we had on here a while ago says there are no real pilots anymore.
