Hey guys, just thought you might want to know about this:

Windows live now has a new thing called Windows Live Club, basically its a collection of games, but what is awesome is that you collect "points" for playing the games. You can spend these points on anything from a free ringtone, to a free song download to a Microsoft Zune, to a XBox 360.

So, if you have a bit of time on your hands and need a new ringone, you can play a few games and get the required 105 points for the free ringtone. Or 125 for a free song. Or if you have more time on your hands you can save up your points for a bigger prize. The games are pretty fun too.

Just from a day of play (being bored today) I have accumulated over 2,500 points, enough to get me one of the following(in order of least amout of points to the most): a free ringtone (105), a free song download(125), 5 free song downloads (525), 10 free song downloads (950), digital headphones (1,000), t-shirt (1,100), Memorex 256mb flash drive (1250), faceplate for Xbox 360 (1400), Sport earbuds (1450), Microsoft Livechat LX-3000 headset (1500), Zoo Tycoon 2: Zookeeper collection for Windows (1800), 20 music downloads (1850), Zune leather case (1900), Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Weekender (1900), Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 Web Cam (2000), NOW THIS IS PRETTY COOL: Two movie tickets, general admission (2250), Xbox 360 controller (2500), Microsoft Fable Platinum for Xbox (2500), Kameo Elements of Power for Xbox (2500), Microsoft Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360 (2500).

And for us aviation people, at 3,250 (750 points from where I am) I can get Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe edition!

You need a Microsoft ID (Hotmail account basically) to sign up, page is at:

http://club.live.com

I, myself am saving up for the Microsoft Zune, 22,000 points, over 10% there, in one day!

This is actually a great little way to increase the number of searches on Windows Live by giving away a bunch of stuff that has a minimal cost basis for the company. For example, there's a crossword gave that has, oh, 25 or 30 clues in total, and each one requires you to click a button to "confirm" the answer, which searches for the term in Windows Live Search. Now, 3250 points for Flight Simulator/25 points per crossword game is 130 plays. 130 plays at 25 searches per is 3250 total searches entered into Live. Microsoft has given away a piece of software of (to them) minimal value, and gets to tell Wall Street and its advertisers at the end of the month "look at how many times Windows Live Search was used." All in all, not a bad idea.

That being said, I'm debating whether to cash in for MSFS at 3250, or hold out for Office at 9000.

Hold out for Office, then sell it on Ebay and you will sell it for about $300 (average Ebay rate for Office '07 ultimate has been about $280-$350) and buy MSFS X and whatever else you want.

Well I thought I would update here:

I haven't played in a while, been too busy, but I checked today and they took down Office '07, so I settled on some other things I needed/wanted. So far I have gotten:

Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe, market value (amazon.com) $58.99
Memorex 256mb flash drive, market value (amazon.com) $13.95
2 free movie passes, market value (cost at theater) $20

Total market value so far: $92.94, not too bad for playing a few games.

Right now I'm working on a new webcam.
