Greetings,

I'm visiting my daughter and her husband in the Greater Philadelphia area this weekend and was thinking about visiting Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on the SW part of town.

Has anyone spotted here ... particularly in the terminal itself since we're not familiar with the surrounding area? Are there any local caveats we should be aware of as well? In short ... is it worth doing at all?

They aren't "aircraft people" as we are so they wouldn't know of possible "outside" vantage points as we have at LGA and JFK. However ... we will have full automotive mobility.

I'll be leaving NYC tomorrow morning and returning on Sunday. Thanks.

lijk604,

Super sites! Too much to digest overnight ... but something to plan for on future visits.

What about in-terminal photo possibilities for now?

Thanks much.

I haven't been to PHL in a little while, but if I recall correctly, all of the good vantage points are post-security. There may be some areas of the parking garages that afford decent views, but I am not familiar with the garages.

If you want a good external location, look at the links listed above for "Hog Island Road" -- that's a road around the perimeter of the airport, and is the primary spotting location at PHL. With a car, it is a piece of cake to get to.
