According to Anet Forum Topic: http://www.airliners.net/discussions/ge ... n/3440335/ (http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/3440335/)

L-1011 N161AT is to be used for the first week of the Adraitic Eagle program as the first DC10 N701TZ has been delayed in being added to the Ops Spec and hasn't completed proving runs yet.

Keep in mind that 161AT is the one with the palm trees still, not the white scheme with the tiny titles.

Shame I did not book the summer trip to Tirana. I hope they keep the service year round.

1725 departures are actually great!!

Read it again, 1725 is arrival (which is great) but only during the week, for most of us, it's not.

Departures are set for 2100 Local, 9pm. UGH

Personally, I think that an L-1011 is worth leaving work a little early for. :)

I actually will be coming home from an Asia/Caribbean trip about 30 minutes before its arrival. Maybe I'll wave and get a night time air-to-air. *rubs in face*

So what time is it coming in this Saturday and going out?

Information and details on this charter, I posted previously here: http://www.nycaviation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=48624

The A.net poster is indeed correct though, the DC-10 program has gotten off to a delayed and sort of rocky start, so an L1011 will run the first week. And to be honest, I wouldn't be too surprised if it also had to sub in a DC-10 for the second week, but right now the game plan is to use a DC-10 for the second week.

Nick that's great but doesn't cover this Saturday, does anyone know what time we can expect to see it come in?

I explained that in the second to last paragraph:

There will of course be ferry (repositioning) flights for the aircraft, however, those will be at all different times and to all different places, so there is no way to know them this far in advance. These are only the scheduled commercial charters though, and they hopefully will be running on time :P

The only hint I guess I know is that the L1011's require a lot of down time between flights. These are old aircraft, and they require a lot of attention, so ATA doesn't run them very close with flights, they leave ample time for the aircraft to turnaround. So if the flight is departing around 11:30pm that night, I'd expect it in by late afternoon.

Well hopefully she'll show up on the trackers and good runwas will be in use, this one is worth catching.

UPDATE:

An L1011 is still planned for the Saturday night flight, however, the Monday night flight is now scheduled for a DC-10. The DC-10 certification program finished Tuesday, and the loose ends are being tied today and tomorrow, and then it's ready for revenue flying!

Really? And no DC-10 took its place on Saturday evening?

Did the flight take place on some other metal or not at all?

No it's not in MHV or VCV...it didn't fly. The original game plan was to do the first flight today, although I had obtained that information back in early March so it was outdated.

I apoligize for anyone who was hoping to see an L1011, it won't be heading into Kennedy anytime soon though. Looks like the DC-10 will be able to start the Adriatic program tomorrow night...here is updated, recent, info:

On Monday (06/11), the ferry flight will be from Indianapolis and is scheduled to arrive in Kennedy at 7:30pm. Ferry flights are VERY subject to change, meaning...earlier OR later then scheduled, because it is only the crew. I have a feeling they'll want to get a head start and get it in a little earlier but I don't know.

The revenue flight will depart for Kosovo at 10:30pm that night, and will return to Kennedy on Wednesday (06/13) at 4:25pm, and leave back for Indianapolis as a ferry flight at 5:55pm.

I actually might try to get down to Kennedy to see the arrival on Wednesday since I have the afternoon off, it will be a sight to see! :D

Darn. I've seen ATA Tri Stars before, but was hoping we'd see a Tri Star at JFK again one day.

We were slated to get the Scottish Airline and the Bolivian airline and something else..and now ATA, but it always falls through.

Nick, do you know if ATA really getting rid of them within a year or so, after having done the D checks on 2 or 3 of them?

Nick,

PM me if you want to meet up. I should be around JFK myself tomorrow evening.

This is a Terminal 4 operation, right?

This is a Terminal 4 operation, right?

Most likely, that is usually where ATA parks when doing charters at Kennedy. I am hoping to be there Wednesday but I am not totally sure if I will be able to get there.

The L1011s, yes, they are on the way out. N161AT (the only L1011 left in ATA's palm livery) is going to be the first out. I think it was actually due for a D-check in March but somehow ATA extended the flying time (I don't know the specifics) and so the date is looming where it either goes in for a D-check or gets sent to the graveyard. ATA will not be D-checking it, as it would takes at least a month (the last D-check was on N164AT, it was scheduled to take a month and ended up taking three), and it's extremely expensive because there are so few spare parts (which is the main reason they are replacing the L1011 fleet with DC-10s).

I don't have any specific dates but the rest of the fleet should be gone by 2008. ATA will probably keep the remaining three in the fleet until all of the seven DC-10's enter revenue service, which is probably going to be early next year. I can say for sure there will be L1011's still flying in November of this year though, as there is a charter booked for Ontario, CA to Indianapolis and back on November 14th and 18th for the L1011 (it's a private, commercial charter, not military).

I also know they need to keep an L1011 at least till the next fiscal year, as their military awards include a trip requiring an L1011 because of range reasons, and they have already committed to flying it through this fiscal year.

Safe bet is to say next year they will all go.
