Malaysian Airline System planning to place a mega order of 110 planes

Malaysian Airline System Bhd has revealed that they are planning to acquire as many as 110 aircrafts to expand their presence in the market.

This order is likely to include 55 wide-bodied aircraft. The company gave few other details on this mega upgrade of their fleet.

The company just recently reported a first-quarter net profit of 133 million ringgit for the first three months of the current year.

The orders for these planes could be worth as much as $14.3 billion at list prices. They are likely to place orders for Airbus A320, Bombardier C series and Boeing 737.

Malaysian Airline Chief Financial Officer Tengku Azmil Zahruddin Raja Abdul Aziz said in a statement: “We plan to issue another request for proposal for wide-bodied aircraft. That will happen in the next one or two months, so our guys will be quite busy looking at the different aircraft.”

They currently have a fleet of about 80 planes which mostly include Boeing crafts. They are aiming to complete the overhaul of the fleet by 2014.
