runway 31 landings. I happen to live in Middle Village where the arrivals pass right over my house. The zoom on the camrea was bad so i had a great idea of using my binoculars to zoom in.

So if these were arrivals, I'm guessing you were five or so miles out?

Really? I'm surprised that so many planes still have their gear up. I live under the approach to runway 14 at IND and the planes here starting lower their gear right above me, and I'm 5 to 6 miles from the field.

That is because it is the expressway visual to LGA. Because of the way the approach is flown it is very well possible as I see some planes drop the gear right before they make the base to final turn on occasion in the tower. Here is the chart for the Expressway visual.

+10 for creativity!
+6 for quality

Get a better lens! Those would be great shots!

Wow, the pilots have little time to go-around if the gear fails then.

It is not a normal occurance. Most of the time they have it down well before they start the turn from base to final. On another note today was out and about on a break wondering and a Colgan Saab came in from the North and made a turn in to land on 31.

Slow day but some intresting traffic and ocurances.
