Canon 350 Reb XT or Canon 400 Reb XTi?

I have heard that the auto censor cleaner is awesome but the complaint against the XTi that makes me lean towards the XT is that people are saying that adding pixels to the same-size censor just makes more noise. Also the size of the 350 just comes more naturally. What would you choose?

Its not so much adding noise to the pictures. Canon's noise reduction technology is second to none. The compliant is that when you add more pixels to the same size sensor you loose contrast, not a lot that you would notice under normal lighting conditions but in certain lighting conditions the difference in contrast is noticeable, nothing however to make it the wrong choice. I'd go with the Xti, anything that can help reduce dust wins in my book.

I've been using the XTi for about 3 months now. If the light is good it is a fantastic camera. When the light is low, the contrast issues are apparent.
The dust reduction is good, but if you turn the camera on & off too many times it can ADD dust to your photos. Trust me, I found out the hard way.

If I were u I would get the 350D and save they extre money for some nice glass to put in front of it. To me the "upgrades" in the 400d are not all that great, plus how long will the sensor cleaner "thingy" last?
Your camera is only as good as the glass that you put in front of it.

John that's interesting, do you know why that is?

I'd say the difference in image quality between the 350D and the 400D are not worth the extra money...if you can find a new 350 for $500 or less, go for it. The only noticeable jump in quality is between the 350/400 and the 30D.

The "dust provention" activates when you manually turn the camera off & on. It does not activate in and out of sleep mode. Only thing I can think of, is that I got dust in the camera from changing the lens outside. THen when trying to save the battery, maybe activating it too often it might attract dust? Not sure, I'll have to ask Canon.

I think the 350 it is! But the question of the night... Where the heck can I get one? I ahve looked at profeel and a bunch of other retailers. Do I have to go to some shop in the city?

Get rid of the Ef-28-200 and get a 28-105 II USM and a telephoto lens. The 28-200 is a pretty bad lens from what I heard.

I enjoy the 400D a lot, the dust feature is great! I havn't seen a speck of dust on any of my photos and I change lenses a lot. It's worth the extra money just for that! I paid $600 for my 400D w/o lens.

I don't have the money for a telephoto lens. The 105mm also wouldn't get me as much zoom as my current P&S. The telephotos are sooo expensive.
