I am strong defender of the Police, but, after watching this video, I can see no reason to rally to the defense, this guy looked out of control. Why didn't anybody step in? He was beating the hell out of the chick.

It depends if they knew he was a cop. You can't really blame people for being reluctant to get in the way of a clearly out of control man with a firearm.
