Hi everyone, well first off...I'm new to the forum...starting shooting with a normal P&S and went SLR alittle over a month ago.

Well to start let me show off some shots I took the past 2 days, with the recent arrival of JFK's visitor.

Also I have a question, now it appears that I do need a cleaning. Does everyone clean their own sensor, or have a pro do it?

Thanks,
Mark

Welcome aboard, Matt! Nice shots you got. What kind of DSLR are you shooting with?

Yes, it does look like you have some sensor dust. There are lots of ways of cleaning a sensor, I'm sure you will get lots of different opinions and good advice here. Personally, I just blow it out with a Rocket blower, although many have had success with various cleaning pads.

That is the understatement of the year, look at that squiggly thing, it looks like the race track for the brickyard 400.

Mark, Ihave to say your shots actually look pretty good.

As for the noose that's inside your sensor, I think a blower should get rid of it, as they usually handle actual PIECES of stuff.

Nice shots!

For professional sensor cleaning, go to Photo Tech in Manhattan. They are the only authorized Nikon repair center in the city. Its on 13th Street, just east of 4th Avenue. A cleaning costs around $45, and takes about 30-45 minutes. Before I moved to Arizona, I would have that cleaning done once every 6-12 months, depending on how much I was using my camera. I dont trust myself cleaning the sensor on my own.
