Okay, now that Monday's over with, on with Wednesday's planning!

Thanks to Moose, it seems the latest word on the media flight is that it will depart JFK approx. 8:45 AM and arrive back approx. 10:30 AM.

EDIT: Per Ron's post (pg 2), departure is approx. 9:00 AM.

Weather currently shows sunny all day.

Who's planning on attending?

I will be there. Looks like Bayswater Park for the departure; then on to Rockaway Blvd for the arrival.

Now the forecast is for sunny but in the mid-30's, better dress up warmly for the early morning chill at Bayswater.

Hope to meet more of you guys there.

I'm planning on coming to New York on Wednesday, but where exactly are these spotting locations? I am not at all familiar with the city. Are they close to the airport?

Check out http://nycaviation.com/jfkspotting. It's a great resource for spots around JFK.

Does any one know which terminal it will leave from? And which runway it would use?
I will try to be there.

As long as I can get a flight out of MCO I will be there!

I'll be there for the arrival.

I was going to be there for the departure, but since it's been brought forward I can't make it in time. I have to pick up a rental car at 8am in Lakewood, NJ.

Hello all, I'm brand-new to planespotting and would love to go out to see the A380 tomorrow. That link with the various spotting locations is great -- are some of them recommended over others? (I don't have a car and will be relying on subway/bus.) Any other tips?

Many thanks.

It all depends on which runway she uses...

hey guys, I'm new here. Found you guys out of my interest to see the A380, missed it on monday. According to flightaware i saw earlier that it was due back from ORD tonight at about 10pm? If that's the case then where is it arriving from tomorrow morning?

I have the day off, so will get a 4am wakeup call to drive down and will spot whole day. Anyone up for a I-Hop breakfast before we catch the beast?

There will be a two hour media-only flight tomorrow morning.

I am planning on being there for the departure and arrival. Hearing conflicting reports about the scheduled times. I thought it was leaving around 1000 but sources here are saying 0845. I hope it's the latter, will continue investigating.

It looks like I won't be able to get to NY tomorrow as planned.

I hope that everyone that goes to JFK has a great time tomorrow, and gets some great shots! :)

Okay folks after a little more research looks like an 0900 departure and 1030 arrival. Also I would have expected it would arrive/depart from T1 but it will actually be Hangar 19. Hope to see some of you in the morning !

When listening to tower Conversation today. They had mentioned that the A380 would be doing two Media flights on Wednesday. I am not sure what time the second flight is.

so if it's at Hangar 19, would Howard Beach (spot C) be best? It looks like I can get there on the A train pretty easily. Guess I'll just hope for a 31L departure.

(any bets on what runway she'll use? I guess I could take the A to Far Rockaway and head toward Bayswater as well, if it looks like a 13R departure.)

Yes, this is true. You can make either location from the A Train, but allow for alot of time walking in both instances.

Call ATIS JFK before leaving to give yourself the best chance.

Based on forecasted NE winds I predict JFK will be on the 4's this morning.

Hey guys. I am in the process of getting ready to leave my house to fly up to JFK. I got the day off from work and am skipping my two classes today to see this thing. Bad news is, it's gonna be freakin done with its flying for the day before I even get there. We were scheduled in at 10:45am and now as I'm sitting here at home, we're already delayed 1 hour and 15 min. So now we're estimated in at noon. So pretty much pointless for me to come up but I wanna fly so I'm on my way. I doubt I'll see any of you all but get some good shots! Have fun!

They are on juliet using the 31s so you guys should be gold for the deaprture. If they were using the 4s that would have been tough. Coming back after the short flight on 31R will be tricky with the light around 10:30-11 I would rather have 22L again. Good luck all.

They switched to the 4s but are using the kilo kilo intersection. Could be interesting.

BTW its not listed on flightaware at all....is it?

Adeel

Nope, don't see it listed anywhere on flightaware. It would be though right even though it's just a media flight?

pgengler

Listening to the LiveATC of the tower, they're running an inspection of the runways, which they also did ahead of the 3/19 arrival, so it might be taking off behind that.

From the LIRR around Woodside at around 9:50am I saw something really fat and white maybe 8 miles southwest, over lower Manhattan maybe.

I figured since she left late the return would be late as well and it was already cutting it close so I didn't make the drive. Anyone know what time the landing was?
