JBU1047, E190, JFK-BNA had to return to JFK minutes after takeoff tonight because a cargo door was open on the aircraft. It never climbed above FL030 and was vectored back to RWY 13L with priority. AAR587 a B744 had to circle over the Sandy Hook NJ area before being re-sequenced behind JBU1047 for RWY 13R. After landing RWY 13L JBU1047 did not require any additional assistance and taxied to the gate. Car 99 performed a surface inspection and nothing was found on RWY 13L.

Who says jetBlue isn't lucky?

Did the door open in flight or was it open when they took off?

was the cargo door open or did it just come unlatched? it is possible that the door was secure the entire time and it was only a faulty sensor, i've seen that happen a few times.

It never climbed above FL030
Flight levels begin at 180, so that would be just 3,000 ft.
