Overnight Planes We Never See

I was thinking about the planes that visit airports at night that we don't get to photograph because they never see the sunlight.

For me, Etihad A345s and Copa 737Ws are tow that come into JFK at night that I'd love to get during daytime.

Another one that's underrated is the Cathay Cargo 747, which is more often than not the polished one.

Do we get BA777s during the day at all or is that just a late evening thing?

Any others that we get that you folks are into?

I think this is the only time I remember seeing Cathay Cargo, it's not the natural metal one - I think you were with me that day - just about a year ago!

Don't think I remember ever seeing a BA777. Still waiting to see an Etihad around.

Few years back, Cathay Cargo used to depart Saturday mornings around 11am. But, I never saw the polished bird.

BA777's should see daylight come summer, at least they used to back in 2003. LOL!!!

There are a few BA 777s in the DB at JFK. I got one the other morning early.

China Airlines Passenger 747

I would love to see the Dreamliner Scheme at JFK during day light hours. I have seen it once late night at JFK.

You can get the Copa departing JFK in the morning.

Cathay Cargo frequently has daytime arrivals, departures.

Cathey PAX? now thats a different story.

I have seen Cathay Pacific Cargo 747-400Fs during the day.

Come summer we will be able to finally photograph Etihad!

I'm really looking forward to seeing China Eastern.

I was actually thinking about starting a thread about all the aircraft we will now be able to see again now that the time change is coming and it is getting darker latter.

At EWR I would like to see the Eva 747, comes in around 9pm and departs around midnight.... does this fly into JFK at all?

don't forget the NCA 747-200F...all the big freight operators show up between 12 AM and 6 AM...thats the rush hours for cargo....

The NCA comes in during the day once in a while though.

I remember very clearly on July 4th 2003 swinging by JFK on the way back from North Hampton and standing under a China Airlines A340-300 on final for 13L. I was standing at Cargo Plaza and you could see the fireworks in the city. Makes for a perfect Kodak moment. :)

YEah SENGA.. The China Airlines A340. That was a great catch.

It came in nearly at 9pm. A tough catch but doable, just barely, a couple of years back. I remember June/July full of late afternoon clouds, and then having one shot at it, but unfortunately it went to 13R at the last moment. Oh well.. Glad you got it at least, like so many others to represtent NYC.

What will be nice this year, beyond China Eastern A340 and Ethiad, will be LAB flights to Cuba if they are continuing...(but maybe they're already gone?).

Air3000 seems to be tough one, as does NCA, but hopefully there will be a couple of opportunities one way or another this summer.

BWIA (Now Caribbean Airlines) is a regular evening arrival, and should be visible during the summer.

the BR freighter at JFK is an MD-11...the passenger flights only go to EWR anymore. but thanks for the NCA pic...they seem to spend more time on the ground on weekends...esp Sun....during the week they're pretty much on schedule.

Yes its you... I've flown CX four times in the last two weeks, their planes are spotless in and out.

I've gotten a few of the elusive ones.

The China Eastern was 15 Feb, right after the storm that crippled jetBlue.
The BA 772 is there in the am quite often.
Cathay Pacific was just really lucky, but it used to be there every once in a while.
