March 4 (Bloomberg) -- US Airways Group Inc.'s automated kiosks are resuming operation after freezing at its main hub in Charlotte, North Carolina, and other cities when the carrier merged its reservation system with America West Holdings Corp.
US Airways' kiosks at Charlotte and four regional hubs couldn't communicate with the reservation network for several hours after the systems were unified as part of a 2005 merger of the two airlines, causing lines and missed flights.
The switch occurred by 4:30 a.m. New York time. Phil Gee, a spokesman for the Tempe, Arizona-based airline, said US Airways kiosks in Charlotte and Philadelphia are now working ``for the most part.''
