From a Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=conewsstory&refer=conews&tkr=EAD:FP&sid=am2gSp3b_jDw) article about EADS layoffs:

[Airbus SAS CEO Louis] Gallois said in an interview that he expects United Parcel Service Inc., its only customer for the A380 freighter, to "postpone" its order for 10 planes by a decade.

I also heard Airbus is laying off people and I think I also heard they may close plants as they will post an annual loss for the first time in quite awhile.

They plan to cut over 10,000 jobs and 6 plants are going to be sold/closed.

The A380 screwed Airbus, and I knew it would. They misread the airline market except for a small sector. Will the A380 succeed? Possibly (I think it is unlikely), it might find a market, but it is less likely than the 787 to succeed. If Airbus didn't get subsidies, this would probably shut them down, or get darn close to it!

Ouch! This isn't good. As for the 380 being a success I doubt it. The 787 is going to be much more sucessfull. Not really the same market but I think Asirbus put their ego in front of good sense in building this thing.
