While it wouldn't be on the DC-10 this could mean the return of Biman to JFK.

I don't care if it is not a DC-10 unless its maybe an A-310. In other words if the number ten is not involved I don't care.

Another A.net thread says PIA's non-777 fleet is about to get banned in the EU so sounds like South Asia is in need of a major equipment upgrade.

I think Biman is reportedly buying some 777's...maybe that bodes well for a return...

Biman had a tough time flying here becuase of their old DC-10s. I hear that the FAA would inspect the plane every day. Kinda understandable.

Biman had orders outstanding for years. Last time it fell apart but I also heard that a US Gov. bank was putting thier hand in the till on this one so we may yet see the Biman Boeings here at JFK. No doubt they could support it a few times a week in and out.

Really? I thought the FAA was only involved with US carriers and not foreign.

If it operates into a US airport, the FAA gets involved. Back when they grounded all the DC-10s after AA191, it only applied to US registered aircraft, but any foreign DC-10s in the US at the time were also grounded.

DXB actually only has 2 runways, 1 of which is apparently inoperable most of the day recently due to some construction. While it is the busiest airport in the Middle East, DXB is also somewhat outdated, because the city has grown up around it and there is no room to really expand. This is why a much bigger airport is to be built near Jebel Ali, a bit further from the city center. From what I hear, when JXB opens foreign airlines will be compelled to shift their Dubai operations there, leaving DXB almost exclusively for the use of Emirates which will give them a competitive advantage as it's closer to downtown.
