View Full Version : A Few From JFK Today

Well I was at it again today. I went to Costco for a few minutes, I just didn't get out of my car! I actually had a good conversation with a 73 y/o woman who was born in Bagdad. What an amazing woman! A pleasant surprise today.
I was able to catch a few including one of my favorite ships, the MD11. Actually I was 1 for 3 with the MD11 today:
Missed-Fed Ex
Caught-Finnair
Missed-Alitalia Cargo
Oh well, I'll have better luck next time. Here are a few decent ones from today:

Then I drove around and found a high school in Five Towns (don't remembe the name of it) and was able to take a few photos from there. Not too bad.

Nice shots! I was over at Firestone and got the same stuff, so I guess we were there around the same time. I'm working on mine right now, will have some to post later.

Hey Moose, how are you?
I was looking for the Firestone and couldn't find it. I wasn't sure where it was and stumbled on to the high school. I'll pay attention a little better to the forum so next time I'll find the place!
I was hoping there were others out today since it was so nice out. I can't wait to see your shots!

...we'll I was there! And so was Tom Alfano...and Tom Turner! I don't know why we didn't see you, Bellucciman...cuz we were at Firestone too. Infact, we saw many of the same planes that you apparently did. Were you hiding? :P Anyways, here are some shots that I got today that are a bit different than the ones you got, check em out:

I was looking for the Firestone and couldn't find it.

It's across the street from Costco, where the McDonalds and Wendys are. If you go around to the other side of Costco (the side away from the water) it's across that street. There is a shopping center with a Marshalls and a soon-to-open Best Buy. The Firestone building is at the front of the parking lot (it closed a few months ago). Right now, there is a big pile of snow along the edge of the lot, hiding it from the road. If you are going down Rockaway (away from JFK) and would make a right turn into Costco, just continue down past the next light (Peninsula Blvd) then make a right turn into the lot at the Wendys.

Here are some of mine from today:

Saw a bunch of 3-holers today, too bad there wasn't a 727 or L-1011 among them. You can see a JetBlue departure above the Alitalia MD-11:

Tomm';ys "Constellation" is actually the Primaris aircraft N740PA. They jsut got it back from being painted to havethose titles added last week, to show the name of the vacation company that hired them. Really happy you got that, Tommy.

There's been a lot of Miami Air activity lately, too.

Great shots everybody. Never cared for the latest Miami Air scheme until I just saw Bellucciman's underneath shot, the dark blue looks great from that angle. Tom, congrats on getting Constellation/Primaris. Did not realize until today their callsign is "Whitecap" And moose thanks for the good news. I had no idea they where building a BestBuy there, pretty handy if anyone needs a last minute memory card or batteries.

It looks like the snow cover really brightens up the under-sides. I can't wait to see for myself on Monday. :)

Excellent photos! Moose with the four tri-jets! Outstanding! I got so ticked that I missed the Alitalia Cargo that I drove over to the cargo area and took this lousy photo:
http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i242/Bellucciman/JFK_MD11_Alitalia_02_17_07_1832.jpg

I know I over-photo-shopped it, but what the hell, I thought it looked kind of cool!
Also, thanks for the info about Firestone!

I did see that - at first I thought it was an "M" logo, since it's a Mesa bird now, but she is an ex-America West bird. Looks like they used an old cowling section on her.

Great shots guys! Excellent catches with the Constellation/Primaris 757 and all the trijets, and I'm willing to bet that UAex CRJ with the AWE cowling is rare!

lol @ Moose - I have a "crush" on the DC-9 too :P

love all the shots. Yeah, I noted that AW cowling change last night. I always like interesting changes to particular planes.

Great to see so much of the MD-11 out there! THanks for sharing such great shots everyone!

Eh, no problem, just poking fun at you.

That is one reason I love living near DTW, when you go to DTW and spend 5 minuites where my 2 A.net shots were taken (see Latest JP.net and A.net uploads thread), you can usually see 7 or 8 powerbacks in a 10 minuite period :D
