Greetings from Florida,
I am almost set up down here and haven't been to the local airports yet. I will be down here for the next 3-4 months at the Delta Connection Academy working on a few more ratings. I did stop off at (COF) Patrick AFB the other day to get some stuff for my place here and spotted a E-4B on the ramp doing run-up tests. I will post more shots from the area when I get out. I haven't had time yet with setting everything up.

Nice shots, Senga. I used to see her semi-regularly at Grissom back in the "good old days". Probably once a month we had an E-4B drop in and pull alert for a few days depending on where POTUS was. Back then, they didn't have the VC-25 for Air Force 1, and the E-4B would be used as an airborne command post in the event of "unmentionable" events

I wanna see inside

I could tell you what's in there, but then I would have to kill you

Not a bad way to start photographing ina new place I wish it was something new for me but it was better than nothing. Tom yes Comand post palnes are tracking me :) Maybe thats why I see them so much.
G-BOAD yes I do have a special interest in VIP aircraft and rare planes.

Heres a few of them :)

Mario the Hump on the top is a Sensory, Detection System.
If Washington were to be destroyed tomorrow (and everything else) :) these are the planes that would send and recive military commands to and from the battle field.

Give me a shout if you head any further south in Florida Senga - I can certainly show you some of the area around PBI.

Hi Matt,
I will be working on my Multi-Engine. I will decide what to do after I get it.
I already hold the Instrument and Commercial.

These pics seal it...the E4-B (in that paint scheme) is officially my favorite 747.

I went to A.net to look at other pics of this particular bird. There's actually a pic of it at JFK from 1977. Oddly, it looks like someone cloned out the top of the fuselage where the big hump should be.

That photo is of an E-4A - the original version of the aircraft. The first 3 were produced as A-models. The last was the only one produced as a B-model, with the hump (it houses a satellite antenna). Eventually the first three were upgraded to B-models as well.

Unless they recycle reg numbers, this is the same plane Senga shot, which means it is one of the upgraded copies. However, there is definitely some sort of photo editor-induced distortion on the top of the fuselage.

All three that were originally produced as A-models were upgraded to Bs, so I'm sure it is the same one Senga saw. There are no A-models left.

That picture does look sort of funky, I assumed it was due to being a 30 year old photo that got scanned & photo-shopped. Parts of the letters in "United" are missing, and just above the "ST" in "States" it looks like it got hit with some kind of blur tool. The upper deck windows look odd, also, almost like someone tried to cover over them, while they are clearly visible in other photos.

I think its Great! I wish i could know when some of the VIPs come to JFK, but whenever fine out, its too late, or i only got 2 days notice. The only head of state plane i ever saw was the Polish TU-154 in Warsaw. Do you know when some VIPs come, because i would like to get some.

BTW, great shot of the Sudan il-62 in Airliners.

Usually in September, when the UN General Assembly starts their session, you see a bunch. Keep an eye out here in the forums, we usually discuss it a week or two ahead. Can't always guarantee when one will arrive, but we get our share of photos:

Here's a Brazilian Air Force 737-200

Senga, I hope your enjoying being a temporary resident of my home state of Florida? SFD will offer you some interesting traffic, especially as much time as you will be spending there. Great timing to leaving the cold north for warm Central Florida !

Cheers

Just realized there were some responses to the thread.

MarkLawrence,
Sure I will let you know when I am PBI area. Lots of airports I haven't sene to in Florida. I have about 1.5 weeks before I start at the school so I am going to try to get to some of the airports. MIA, OPF being the main ones :)

Gotham ,
I have seen that pik before too. 73-1677 hasn't changed much. I wonder what it was doing there.
Correct 73-1677 is the same one I shot at COF the other day :)

G-BOAD
For the VIPs- just gotta keep abreast of the news UN stuff etc. A lot stuff comes in during September but during all of winter many VIPs can be seen in the NYC area.

Ron,
I hope I will like it down here too. I am a cold weather, rain, clouds kind of person I want to get back up as soon as possible. Every time I keep trying to get to SFB to get the Eurocharters I end up not going because theres something else I have to set up and run into the arrival times. So far there has been:

First Choice 763
Flygobespan 763
ExelAirways 763
Iceland Air 752

I will try to get the First Choice 763 today when it comes in.

I still need to get to MCO too. I haven't been to MCO in about 4 years. Theres actually more planes there I need to get than at LAX :)
