Just saw on the news; 747 aircraft overshot the runway crashing into some light poles. BA blames MIA for poor runway lighting, but FAA says the airport runway lighting was approved.

No injuries were reported, and the aircraft remained on pavement where it was able to taxi to the gate.

What a scare for Tony Blair and his family. They were traveling to Miami for a vaction in Business Class.

I am in shock, not RAF VC-10 or L-1011? :-)

-- As silly as it seems, the PM always flies BA.

-- The other report I read said he was in first, which makes more sense.

-- It sounds like they didn't overshoot the runway during their landing roll, but the pilots missed the turnoff and rolled off the end, allegedly due to construction induced poor lighting.

Not a big fan of Tony, but I think it's refreshing that there is still a major world leader who isn't afraid (or too stuck up) to fly commercial. They must either do a very intensive security inspection for this flight or, perhaps more likely, put him on a random flight at the last minute.

I remember when he lobbied to have a special national plane just for him, like the President in the US. The British Tabloids dubbed it 'Blair Force One'.
