Lots of people with lots of knowledge.... Lets tap it!!!!

Take the picture below and photoshop it in ANY way you would like....
You have until Monday morning. Please post you attempts here but do
not post how it was done until after Monday at 11am. We will be working
with mostly difficult shots that many may not want to even look. This
excersize is to see how bad photos can be saved and to improve all
knowledge of photo editing. This is to help us all get better at what we
love to do. I hope to gain just as much info as you. Thank you for all
who participate. -Fred

It was tough to maintain any sort of quality since there was no light in the photo, and therefore less quality to begin with, but I think I managed to salvage it a bit....definitely NOISY though:

Very nice.... a little too nice, I hope that does not scare anyone off.

Please post your good or failed attempts.... This is a learning thread, not
a bragging. This is intended to help all.

I'm new at photoshop, so not the best.

Really nice job....with that extra room with the loose crop, you were able to maintain more quality than I could with a standard crop.

Any other takers?

Yeah, that is exactly why I did the loose crop, I tried it with about the crop you had, didn't maintain quality well enough. I really like this thread, mabye we should do a weekly photoshop contest. It really helps fine tune your skills.

Nowhere near as good as you guys, but I attempted something a little different. The image was downsized when I uploaded it, still tryin to keep that from happening...

I only have Photoshop "Elements," which is an extremely watered down version of the full one. So I can't do everything, but it can do the basics that I usually need.

Good idea to desaturate it, you can't see the lack of details that you could in a color version, nice job!

Missed this one, due to being out of town, but I like the idea Fred.
I dont want to pressure anyone, but maybe we try a weekly picture?

Yeah, we could post a new picture every week that is in need of some editing for a specific reason (I have a few, especially some noisy ones due to weather)

Or we could do like 2 a week to give some options. What does everyone think?

Also, is this the monday we can post what we did?

Oh I have plenty of pics that could use some sprucing up. I like the idea of a "Pic-fixes of the week." I'm sure lots of us could use the practice.

I was busy working on my own photos from AAM last night, but I gave this one a try...

And I love the idea of making this a regular thing, once a week sounds good, and Fred, if you run out of "difficult" shots, let me know, I have plenty :D

the idea is not really to fix the photo so I can use it...it is more to fix the photo to see what technique was used so we call all benefit from each others expertise. I love what I see here and I am not surprised in the least that some are better than my attempt. It will take me a few days to post because life got in the way of my Internet but I will be back and I will show you my attempt and my technique. I would love to hear some of yours

I dont really have much of a technique. I start by leveling and cropping, then from there, aside from some of the other basics, its "lets see how many buttons I can click and see what I can make this thing do." It may seem like a highly inefficient way to learn things, but sometimes you come across interesting effects, and alot of times you can learn alot by accident. This even holds true beyond photoshop...i like to fix things I know nothing about, so i will take it apart, figure out how it works and attempt to fix it. It may take a really long time, but in the end I learn exactly how that thing works, inside and out. and sometimes I break it beyond repair.
