Greetings everybody!!
Well my family and I just planned a trip to New York City, with the idea of receiving the New Year there, and well as a plane spotter and watching the amazing traffic you guys get there I think well I most certainly need to go to JFK to take some pictures.
I will be leaving Mexico City on December 28 on Delta Airlines flight 278 and returning to Mexico City on January 1 on Delta Airlines flight 279. My hotel will be the Hilton near the Rockefeller Center at West 53rd Street and Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue). I think my dad isn’t planning to rent a car which I think makes the spotting day even harder, so I was thinking to take the hotel van to the airport and hopefully I could meet someone in any of the JFK terminals and then go spotting.
So well let me know what you think about the idea, which days could be easier for someone to join me.
And well also for those days which are the best spotting place, I would love to take those wonderful 31R departures turns!
Thanks in advance for your advice and help!
Greetings//Saludos

Hey Jorge! Welcome to the site!

Will be great to have you in town. Be sure to keep posting as the day comes closer and hopefully we can plan something out for your visit. :)

Is there are local traffic that you're particularly interested in seeing?

Hey Phil, thanks for the welcome and fast answer, I’m interested in heavy traffic and more specific in the following:
Cathay A340-600
Emirates A340-500
Pakistan International Airlines 747-200
Thai Airways A340-600
Virgin Atlantic A340-600 and 747-400
Basically I think those are the most I would love to spot, and well all the US airlines that operated in JFK.
Saludos!

THai should be the hardest one to really catch it comes in at 0630 in the morning and does not leave till night time normall if I am not mistaken and the PIA 742 not possible right now it is triple seven service if I am not mistaken the rest should be pretty easy

Hola Jorge! As Phil said, let us know the dates. Shouldn't be too hard to catch the planes only thing is that PIA has gone over to the 777-200 and ocasionally the 200LR which is a pretty special plane to see and Thai operates the -500 to JFK, not the -600.

Hiss, the Thai flight leaves around noon.
