Just in from AP, N Korea has just conducted its first nuke test. That's all they have right now, no other details.

I doubt they'll actually use one, but I have to admit it's a little disconcerting having a country test a nuclear weapon.

I'm not to sure about that. The entire world told them not to test a bomb and they went ahead and did. If this is true, who knows what N Korea will do with a bomb. It will be interesting to see if the stock market reacts to this tomorrow.

oh $hit here we go. Anyone know where a good bomb shelter is around here? Seriously though forget about Iraq we should have been woried about whacking this guy and the Iranians because they seem to have brass balls these days. I wonder what the white house will have to say about this in the morning. I hope George now finally decideds to harden up and make something happen.

Just what the world needs is for this psycho to have a new toy that makes lots of noise....

Right now, you have South Korea & Japan that are crapping their pants at the thought that North Korea, could potentially have an Atomic Weapon....

I'd prob add China to that list to Mike. I'm sure they're not to thrilled about the idea that this may spark Japan to change their laws about not having an offensive armed force.

I heard this on the news, there is a small problem, the people of Japan do not want a strong military, after the events of WWII, the fight has been taken out of the Japanese.

That may be the case Mike but the thought of another bomb dropping on Japan may change that. The generation of WWII in Japan getting old and dying out. New minds might have a different idea.

Just horrible, any way you look at it.

Its nothing short of sick madness.

Tragic at all angles: the economy, world security and how about the environment! (like there is not enough cancer in this world)

Psychotic!

Kim Jong II needs to be beheaded.

I think the significance of this test has been entirely overblown. First, Kim Jong "Mentally" Il is a nut, but I just don't believe he's suicidal...he's simply got the mindset of a bratty 5 year old who thinks he can get his mom to buy him a toy by throwing a tantrum. Second, we all knew he's had this stuff. It's not like we needed him to test it for us to believe it was going to work. We assumed it would. Now we know it works for sure. So what?

The guy in Iran is truly bananas enough to use them. He's still the guy we have to concentrate on.

Both need to be concentrated on. Kim might be harder to get at but loony tunes in Iran on the other hand makes himself so damn public that we could send someone in there to whack him in a heart beat I would bet. Kim though not so much. We need to send forces there like major raid overnight invasion and just pop anything that moves and get the weapons in my personal opinion Japan is at too much risk from this guy. I might be a bit zellous (think that is how it is spelled) but I think many because of how far detached from that area we are fail to see the seriousness of it . It is a NUKE people somthing that could kill millions in one swipe. It is not like the Palistine issue where they are just trying to deplete their manpad supply and taking 1 or two at a time this can wipe Japan off the map and destroy the world economy like nut job iran could not do by jacking oil up to 100 per barrel
