Hi everyone!

First of all, this is my first post up here - I'm actually a spotter from Brazil who's staying in NYC for a while... I’ve been here for almost three weeks now, haven’t been able to do some spotting yet though. Still, as I might be going back next week I would like to have spent a day at the airport and do some ‘local spotting’. Since I’ve never been here before I’d like to ask if anyone might be interested in going to JFK on Sunday, Sep-17 (the weather’s supposed to be good) with me or could help me out how to get to the good spots (I don’t have a car, so I have to rely on public transportation). Coming from Brazil, my priorities would of course be photographing some local traffic (especially JetBlue’s E-Jets…) but also some international stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated – also, if Saturday is a better day for spotting, that would certainly be an option too.

For some of my latest shots:

If anyone wants to contact me privately, my Email address is as follows:

[email protected]

I’d be happy if someone joined me for a day out @ JFK!!!

All the best,

Marcelo

Welcome to the boards, Marcelo!

I think that if the weather is nice, we (Phil, me and maybe some others) might go out on Saturday. Where are you staying? Have you checked out the spotting maps?

At JFK you'll defintely get all of the jetBlue you'll ever want to see, but it can be a pain to access by public transportation.

Marcelo glad you found the site, I know we were emailing back and forth for a bit. As long as the weather is nice I'll be out there this weekend as well.

I'll be out at LGA on Sunday morning with Andy Walker from MAN, and depending on what's happening we may head out to JFK in the afternoon.

Tommy and I are heading to JFK now. If they are on the 4s like earlier, we'll probably be at Bayswater.

Though not JFK, they arelanding on runway 4 at LGA, and a couple of us should be at Planeview Park until mid-morning. :)

I started a new thread about spotting on the 17th with five visitors from Germany. Anyone want to join us. Not sure yet where. LGA if they are on the 4s till Noon, then JFK. Rumor is that CO's PeterMax will make it's last flight today to EWR (or from) before a maintenance check in Houston. Not sure if they're doing a repaint or not.

Anyone around can give us a call on 201.481.0647.

Edit: I was thinking of going out, but it still seems hazy (more so than last Sat.) and I have work to do. Oh well. Maybe next weekend.

Have fun whoever goes out.

It was hardly hazy by any means! You should have come out!

Planeview was as packed as I've ever seen. Before 9am, we already had 16 peole there. A little bit later, we had 19.

A great day, gorgeous weather, adn those new benches are a godsend. Those benches reinvented Planeview.

Great seeing all of you!

Wow! Awesome shots Phil! Nice group shots Mel!

I wish I could have gone out yesterday but I had a soccer game. Hoping to get out tommorow to SWF to see some VIP's but I've just come down with the flu so I hope I can head out tommorow.

Wow, Mel....those group shots are awesome! Thanks for snapping a few with me in the picture...I appreciate it! :)

Today was quite possibly one of the best spotting days in a long, long time. Lots of friends, lots of sunshine, and lots of airplanes at two airports. We even saw a whole bunch of VIP aircraft arrive on 13L at JFK (MEA A330, South African BBJ, Air Zimbabwe 767-200, Thai A346, Bahrain 744).

Looking forward to next time!

Josh

Great shots guys, now I wish I had gotten to LGA this morning - looks like you had just about the entire NY spotting community out there.

Spent the afternoon at JFK, now I have about 900 shots to go through. As Josh said, we got a bunch of great stuff this afternoon, looks like a lot of UN visitors. It was good seeing everyone out today...gotta go post-process now!

Holy smokes! I remember the big groups we had last summer, but it looks like this one takes the cake. Looking forward to seeing the VIPs...including the IL-62 you all shot.

Well, almost all of you. :)

Forget NY, Moose. Looked like the whole world was there, especially with Art's German friends and Jay Selman with his buddy from the UK.

Can't wait to get back home,

Brian

Great shots!

Im glad I got to come out for the JFK bit. When I got home I re-read the email. There was a Congo MD80 charter inbound, not sure if that was seen.

I left my stuff at my folks place so will go through pics later. Having said that, did anyone catch the inbound Il-62?

As many of you know, she was the one I wanted. Ive never seen a russian bird in action. And while I didnt get a photo, I was glad to witness her in action, in what looked like a path to land on the 22s. Driving up Little E Neck Rd, I pointed her out to Highheels and said, "Look, your russian people built that one"

She floated across the sky in a northwesterly heading and, well, it was a great cap to a nice day spotting with friends.

Might go out later today (monday) more action today from what I understand.

We were over at Cargo getting 13L arrivals when she came in, but we saw the big smoky trail and watched her arrive off in the distance.
