View Full Version : Can't afford a Mac?

I love Macs...I use one at work and plan on buying one next year, but I've gotten so spoiled with my iMac at work, that I HAD to do something about my ugly PC interface.

How's this for "as close as it gets?" Pretty creepy, huh?

Mel,

If you are going to go MAC, I would suggest one of the Intel based ones. That way you could run Windows also. Also if your looking for MAC that is affordable look into the Mac Mini. I have a Powerbook and its great, sometime in the future I would consider upgrading to a MacBook.

I am actually very interested in the MacBook. We have a couple at the office and I love them! Its price is comparable to a good quality laptop (about $1300 with some fixins...and I paid about that for my Toshiba).

For now though, I know that my next huge purchase is going to be a 20D and lens, so the Mac will have to wait until sometime next year. I think that between this "fake" Mac interface that I created, and my iMac at work, I'll be satisfied until I can afford my own. :)

Mac OS is nice, but macs are too expensive for me to consider buying. Im just about to buy a $2k laptop that will have more features than a $2.5k Mac. And why would you buy a 20D when the 30D is out?

I agree that you should buy what is most efficient for your purposes, but with the work I do, a Mac is definitely the most friendly for me. There are several features that are exclusive to Mac that Windows can't even handle....plus with the new dual platform, a Mac can run virtually anything that a PC can. Let's not get into the fact that Macs are pretty much immune to viruses. ;)

Because the features of the 30D compared to the 20D versus the price of the 30 to the 20 don't make the extra cost worth it, in my opinion. Again, the most efficient for my purposes.

Mel hit the nail on the head about the 30D.

Ok I am a bit confused, is this a windows computer with a macintosh "look alike" background?

Or vice versa? It looks like 100% Mac to me, (mom owns a MAC OS X at home).

Alex, it's not just a background. I programmed the entire thing to look and behave like a Mac (for the most part). It's Windows XP, a PC laptop; just with a lot of tweaking!

Doesn't RUN like a Mac though. booo :(

Fooled you though!

Mel, thats sweet!! Teach me how to do that, because I love the macs, but the reason I had switched to Windows was because I was using programs in HS that required a Windows, and I couldn't use them on my Mac computer. But I do love Macintosh Computers.

The only disadvantages are you can't play online games like yahoo games and whatnot as well Videos (im talking music videos not porn videos! ;)But for everything else I much prefer Macs.

You sure fooled me!

Now first of all, you can do all of those things on a Mac, you just need to download the plug-ins for it.

Secondly, you sure got defensive about the types of videos you are referring to, and without provocation. I dunno about you.

Oooh Macs *drool*

I loved them, then I hated them, then I loved them again. I've had this 20gb Compaq desktop since 2000 and even though I update it and treat it verrry well, laptop time is going to come soon.

My mother bought herself a niiiiiice Powerbook recently and I want it. She won't miss it, right? Right? :?

She won't miss it. My boss won't miss his 15" MacBook Pro, right? Right?!
