After years of losses and almost extinction U.S Airways reported a first quarter profit of 5 million dollars compared to a 16 million dollar loss last year for Q1. U.S also reported it now expects to be profitable for all of 2006. Great news coming out of U.S Airways and from recent personal experience flying them a few times for biz I can say their product has improved a great deal.
On a side note UAL had a huge operating loss of 171 million and a net loss of 306 million. Amazingly UAL said they are pleased with their results. Just a note both American and Continental reported operating profits but net losses. UAL based its restructuring program on oil at $50 a barrel, anyone want to make bets when they'll go back into chap 11 again? Tilton needs to go at UAL.
