Hey guys, we just booked a few trips throughout Australia, one of them is

Kununurra-Newman-Perth

I am really trying to gather any info on what appears to be tiny airport. Newman. I can find anything real information about it. Any help please?

We are doing that route on a 143. Is it possible that this airport is even tinier than the Republic, Calverton or over the old Flushing Airport?

any info is appreciated.
THanks.

Sounds like a great trip Mario. I don't know about Republic being "tiny" though.. :)

Republic and Calverton are by NO MEANS Tiny unless you are talking for
NY. Try going out of the NY and your tiny definition will really change. I
love Reinbeck airport but I do not consider that small....Bayport
aerodrome and I do not consider that small.....They are both single grass
runway airstrips. I have seen airstrips with a single house and 1 hangar
with 1 aircraft and I consider that small. Are we talking small for
Intercontinental traffic? or small for Commercial traffic or small as in
runway size of total traffic in a given year?

I think I will go with the obvious and go with you are talking, not INTL
airport?

On a side note...I took pictures of 15 Jets landing in 20 or so minutes at
Republic this evening! TRULY AMAZING!!! Never saw so many BJ's in
such a short amount of time.

Fred, I was asking about Newman ;)

Perth is going to be big as its a stepping point to Asia. BUt just trying to gather info about Newman, I am sure its ridiculously tiny as I believe its a small mining town. Should lend to the whole outback experience.

G'day mate

Newman is about 1185 Km NE of my home city, Perth...it takes about 16hrs to drive and is located on the NE just above the equator. The main attraction is the Karajini National Park.

you'll understand the meaning of the word "outback" when you get to Kununarra and Newman! it's the real outback of Australia! perhaps you should visit the Wolfe Creek national pk also.

no more BAe 146 to Newman, It's now operated by the 717...

this place is awesome too

look forward to seein you Mario, this is a very unique part of the world, most only come to one part of Australia, that being Adelaide and east of her...you'll see some of the most amazing landscape and natural wonders in the world here!

Say it aint so Marty! I so hope you are wrong!

still showing as a 143. You know my love for that bird. the only time I ever flew it, AYO-CNS, the pilot strapped us in and Higheels and I jumpsat from 20,ooo ft to the gate at CNS.

can you imagine that??? thats pulling a Derf! show up, fly the a/c you love and jumpseat?!!!

anyway, I love hte 717 too, great handling as I'll rolled one over Brooklyn.

very excited about the little towns we'll stop into...

not swo much Darwin, but
Kunununna, and Newman. I seriously think that I'll be seeing some real life Croc Dundees.

PS I CAUGHT WUNALA yesterday at JFK. I never saw that coming!

none that I can find, even the views from satilites of the area don't zoom in enough to even see the town of Newman let alone the airport.
