There are two Air Wisconson CRJ's now flying ISP-PHL for US. One departs at 0705 and the other at 1535. The BahamasAir 732 sure is a nice treat !

Cheers

Ron,

So, are they phasing out the Dash-8's? or is this a summer demand thing. I'm happy about the CRJ's, just wish there was more to make ISP a more interesting place.

Islip is as interesting as watching paint dry! Ever since Garret shut down the biz jet traffic is next to nothing, it seems there's less and less GA traffic there to. If it wasn't for Southwest I'd say pave over the dam airport and build a shopping mall, lol We can name it after McGowan, ahahaha

I still look at ISP and laugh, you have this wonderful new terminal attached to this 60s relic that should be torn down and if you've been in the Delta/US wing lately its even more pathetic. Another compliant I'm hearing from passengers is the baggage claim is now to far away from the Southwest gates, which it really is. I'd hate to see them take that section down after the money that was spent but the entire baggage claim and rental car section needs to be moved over to the Southwest terminal. If you've been in there you have this HUGE empty public space being used for nothing. Put at least two carousels for baggage there so people don't have to walk so far.

When/why did Garrett shut down at ISP? I thought that was a good operation for them?

Then again......

As far as the US CRJ's from Air Whiskey, I think they are looking to increase capacity without increasing frequency. They are down to 5 a day soon, 2 RJ's and 3 Dash8's, one of which is the -300. I would guess the -300's are needed elsewhere.

I have been pushing for jets for the past 6 years, now I just wish we could have service to somewhere other than PHL.

My best to you all...

They are building another 5 or 6 gates at Islip and i believe the baggage area will be re-designed when the new bldg opens

Islip is only building four more gates at ISP and all four are for Southwest, giving WN eight total which still leaves the others in the old building.

No but we use to have Eastern, American, United, Contiental, U.S Air, Piedmont, North Eastern, Braniff, and later on PanAm II.

Cool shot, I saw her there when I left for LA, we seem to get fighters in there on somewhat of a regular basis. Certainly a fun way to visit the family, screw two hours from Florida on Southwest, just hit the afterburners and you'll be there in 30 mins, lol.

Actually, more like a 30-45 minute flight from VA Beach.

I wish shooting there wasn't such a hassle either. I want to shoot there a few times this summer. It is not so spotter friendly but I would love to catch a special scheme WN or something there.
