SEATAC, Wash. -- United Airlines is investigating an accident at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport that injured a passenger and a flight attendant Sunday night, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

A passenger said the plane hit some part of the jetway as it taxied, just moments before passengers expected to walk off the plane.

"It was United Flight 949 from Chicago. Everything was fine until they lurched into the jetway,'' said a passenger who identified himself only as "Mike."

The passenger called us at 8 p.m. to report the incident. He said the Boeing 757-200 he was aboard was loaded with passengers.

The accident was severe enough that airport firefighters were called to help the injured, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

United Airlines is investigating the incident, but the airline would not provide any details about what part of the plane hit the jetway or why. The passenger on board said he was told the plane was damaged.

"They did share the information that the engine was lodged in the jetway, but they ended up de-boarding the plane," Mike said.

The FAA was not notified of this incident, KIRO-TV reported. Because it happened on the ground, technically the agency may not have to investigate.

I wonder if the passengers took their seat belts off before indicated they can do so, if they did I have no sympathy for the injured.
