EMERGENCY LANDING
The Story of Flight 232 with Captain Al Haynes

Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 7:30pm
Admission: $10.00
$8.00 for museum members

On July 19, 1989, United Flight 232 left Denver at 2:09 pm and climbed to 37,000 feet. At 3:16pm the flight crew alerted air traffic control in Minneapolis that the number two engine had FAILED and the aircraft was marginally controllable. What happened next was a harrowing story of survival for the crew and passengers of Flight 232.

Come and hear Captain Al Haynes tell the full story of how 184 passengers survived and how many more lives are saved everyday by the lessons learned by Flight 232.

A former marine aviator, Captain Haynes joined Untied Airlines in 1956 logging over 27,000 hours in DC-6, DC-7, DC-8, Boeing 727 and the DC-10. His story talks about the teamwork and execution performed by the flight crew as well as those on the ground who helped avert an even greater disaster.

Seating is limited. For tickets, information and reservations, please call 516-572-4066.

If you have never heard Captain Al Haynes speak before, do it, it is worth any price.

He has some video & powerpoint presentation of the DC10 crash, he tells what happened from his perspective & what the experts surmised happened.

Captain Haynes is also very entertaining.......

Guys GO if you can. he came to my city to give a speech and everyone was moved by the speech, not a dry eye was in the room after he was done. not because it was sad too, but just how he told it. higly recommended, and definetly worth any price to go. I was not able to go see him sadly, but my friend did and all he could talk about was the speech. Highly highly suggest you go if you can, Feb 1st is my bday anyway :-P

Alex

This Captain is no stranger to crisis.

From what I recall he has or had a very sick daughter too, heartbreaking story.

Tonight I was able to meet one of aviations finest pilots. I attended a
Lecture given by Al Haynes. I wish I could go into it more detail but I guess
some of the other forum members may want to chime in.

The lecture was held at the Cradle of Aviation in the Imax Theatre

hey, if you look close, you might spot, me, Highheels, and Eric and Peter.
:)

Well, it was a great talk and I was floored by it. Once I saw the video again, realized I watched it happend on TV while visitng a relaitve in Tulsa. The cartwheeling dc10 image never leaves me.

But the most astounding point of the discussion how his experience could be applied to our lives in their everyday.

By that, I mean, I went there, on my wife's birthday, expecting to hear a pilot.

Instead, we heard a tale of how not one pilot, but many men and women, came together and solved many complex problems in a crisis.

Curretnly I am in hte midst of a crisis in the office and I really came away with a lot that was said and need to apply to my everyday.

@ midnight Mike, thanks for hte recommendation. I'm glad I went.

Ahahah,yep...it was the 50mm but the lights were off in there so I had to push it at 1600ISO and F1.8, OUCH....I do not like to do that!

The first picture was also with the 50mm handheld.
