Keep in mind guys most domestic carriers will be on a reduced Holdiay schedule, kind of a Sunday morning - Saturday afternoon combined. Just FYI.

Thanks for the heads up Ron. I need to get Indy at LGA before they go bye bye. I also want to get some shots from the parking garage at the Delta terminal and an early evening T5 shot. Hope we can get a good crowd out.

Tommy, in sabre I am showing Indy operating their full schedule on the 26th.

Ron

Just out of curiosity, Ron, what is Indy's full schedule?

LGA777
2005-12-19, 07:17 PM
Indy arrives at 1100, 1635 and 2100 319-319-CRJ.
Indy departs at 1235, 1715 and 2130 319-319-CRJ.

They seem to be pretty reliable on time wise.

Ron

2005-12-19, 11:12 PM
Thanks, Ron. It would seem that the only opportunity for a good shot these days is the 1100 arrival and the 1235 departure. The others are all likely to be when it is dark (or close to dark, in the case of the 1635 arrival).

Ron thanks for that info. The forecast is calling for partly sunny sky's high 42. So I'm def going out and at least this time won't have to bundle up in Fred's son's jacket, lol I have two goals that day Indy and to shoot the TWA terminal in the setting sun.

Hey, I might be down for it! What time do you think you'd start?

Ron, are all airports going to be at reduced frequency? I figured we'd get more a/c because of the holiday.

I can now confirm I will be out there for the Indy arrival at 1100, and I will stay out until sunset at 1630ish. I propose that after the Indy departure at 1235 we all eat lunch at the foodcourt in the CTB at LGA. It's such a great place to hang out.

Tommy, I will call you when I am on my way out so we can hook up. Anyone who wants to call me for the status quo at any point throughout the day, please feel free to do so: 917-660-7871.

Brian, you gonna head out with us, or do you have school?

Great idea Josh! I wanted to get some inside shot from LGA as well so this works out well. As of now the weather looks looks like Sun and some clouds so I think we'll be in good shape. Again if anyone wants to call me to find out where we are go right ahead, my number again is 1-516-456-1499. To get driving directions to where we might be at LGA use the spotting map http://nycaviation.com/lgaspotting

I haven't heard from Fred, he's mia!!! Where in the world is Fred Miller???? We need Fred!!!!

I have no idea what that means, Mario, you going to be there or not? More and more I think English as the national language is a good idea :D

I should be out there at some point Monday as well. Not sure how long a day it's going to be on Sunday, so I may sleep in (vacation and all next week) but I'll see you all eventually.

Hey Tommy,

any idea when/where you guys will be meeting up at JFK?

Regards,
-Omar S. 8)

It all depends Omar on what runways they are using. Feel free to call me if you plan on coming up and want to hook up with us. I promise I won't make you climb a mountain, lol. I hope their not using the 22s otherwise the light will blow. Cargo and Costco/Burger King will be good. Based on looking at some of my pics from a few weeks ago Burger king might provide us the best light. When the planes were just over the Burger King they had some great light on them. Nick that was when you were pointing out how good they looked just over the JFK motor in. They were just over Burger King.

Yep, I love my spot right next to Firestone (little further east) when they are using 31R. I got this Air India shot from there. It's great for side ons.

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/973730/L/

It's a good pre Costco spot when the sun isn't quite that far west. Late morning to about 1pm, then Costco is better.

If they are using the 22s it's gonna suck. I found Bayswater to be good for 22R Departures but you have to be there by 10AM, once noon comes the sun is too far west again. I wouldn't mind Inwood park for 31L, that is a good spot. We should make a trip to the mounds to see the progress as well.

PhilDernerJr
2005-12-23, 03:05 PM
I think this would be a good time of year fo Charles Park if there are 31L deps.

I say we do LGA all day though But I know no one will agree. :-p

eric8669
2005-12-23, 03:44 PM
If they are using Jfk 22's in the morning you can go to North Woodmere Park.

You will get shots like this.

jakbar
2005-12-23, 04:50 PM
At least during the summer time (I don't know about winter), North Woodmere Park is also good for the really early 31R action:

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/929656/L/
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/931039/L/

If JFK is using the 31s on Monday, I'm heading there after lunch. I will probably check out Profile Park (i.e., Frank M. Charles Park) and see how it looks. If it's good like it is during the summertime, I'd probably rather stay there instead of going to Costco for arrivals. Sorry, Phil. :)

NIKV69
2005-12-23, 10:16 PM
I like Eric's idea. If they are using the 22s we could go there. I would suggest my suicide spot on Rockaway Blvd but we don't need a visit from the PA.

Hey guys,

weather tomorrow looks pretty miserable, so I think I'll spare myself the drive up. My dad needs to go to B&H next weekend, so I might catch a ride with him and drop by JFK if the weather's good. Have fun tomorrow!

Yeah I keep seeing conflicting weather reports. One says its gonna be partly cloudy, the other says rain and overcast..

PhilDernerJr
2005-12-25, 04:33 PM
I say even if the rain is bad, that maybe we do some non-photography spotting and hanging out inside the LGA's Central Terminal, and then maybe a little indoor wandering of JFK termianls.

I would just enjoy hangin with you guys, whether photography is involved or not.

T-Bird76

Sounds good to me about spotting from inside, and if the weather improves we can head out doors.

Had a few enjoyable hours despite the weather.

Well, Air Canada did stiff us by replacing the E190 with the regular 319, but American made up for it with this:

http://www.nycaviation.com/hosting/8588_American738_N951AA_LGAtaxi_BF_800.jpg

I also spotted a bukkake beast (so THAT'S why his teeth are so white!) snarling at his prey from behind the bushes!

Happy New Year!

...judging by the photo of the bukkakke beast, it looks like you guys were taking shots from inside the terminal. Were you asked to leave at all or did you speak to someone ahead of time etc.....? Would love to know so that if I decide to do some "winter" spotting at LGA I wont get harrassed. That's quite a drive for me.

John

Futterman
2005-12-26, 08:15 PM
You're right, John...we were inside the terminal.

Every time we go up there we always give the PAPD a call (extension 211 on the payphone) just to let them know we're there before they find out on their own.

Today, when the detective picked up, he said, "Port Authority emergency desk" in a pretty stern voice. I simply told him that there was a group of 5 aviation enthusiasts taking photos from the big windows, before security, in the Central Terminal Building, and he replied with "Okay, that's fine, but we may still get some calls about you guys." That was it. And that's usually the way it is.

Sometimes they send a cop by to check your ID, but I haven't had the pleasure in quite some time. Most passengers, if they don't join us and watch planes for a few minutes, just walk right past without batting an eye, too. Amazing, isn't it?

Also, remember that when you do call up, you should try to get the detective's name so, in the event that you are approached, you have some credibility.

Brian

Glad to hear that the LGA PAPD guys are actually "getting it." We are not there to cause a problem, hell we would be the first to notice something amiss and alert them. Good job, and thanks for the info. One day I'll join you guys out there....today was hell at work....goddam rich folks can never keep to the plans they make! The fog didnt help any either. Grrr!

Even despite the poor weather it was good time spotting and the Astro Jet was huge bonus. Canjet was another good catch, otherwise it was the normal LGA crowd.
