Etihad Airways has filed with the DOT for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit and U.S.-U.A.E. exemption authority.

It plans daily nonstop service between Abu Dhabi and Newark using the A340-500, starting in June 2006.

There's talk that start of service might be bumped up to March.

Any word on Indian Airlines coming to EWR? I thought they were all set with A340s...and now I don't hear anything..

(btw - did you get your stamps today? :) I forgot all about it... a nice suprise in my mailbox.)

Indian Airlines is the only airline that has double main gear ( 4 tires) on their A320's oo unlike the usual (2tires) o

Was it Indian Airlines? I thought it was Jet Airways planning to use the A340 for EWR? I don't recall exactly.

Indian Airlines is pretty much a domestic airline, they are planning on getting some A330's, not A340. They just took delivery of three leased A320's and will have few more in the first half of 2006.

They are the only one with double axle main gears, I think 20 of them.
