So I’ve seen people try to bring on large carryons before but this took the cake. While I was waiting in the A line for our flight the flight before us was delayed because this jackass was arguing that he didn’t want to check his Cello. He went on and on how expensive it was and that there was no way he would check it. Even after they took out a measuring tape and basically drew him a picture that the Cello was to big he continued to insist it be put in the overhead. I had to take a picture of this moron and the Southwest employees who had an amazing amount of patience not to laugh at him. He was finally convinced that the cello was to big and checked it. I was amazed they just didn’t close the door on him.

When I was a gate agent and supervisor at PI and US back in the 80's before starting my current operations tower gig, Cello's where very common and in every case the musician had always purchased a seat for the cello, it had to be a window and as a courtesy we always preboarded the musician and his or her cello and I never remember having a problem. By the way I also always remember the her cellist's being attractive !

Cheers
