Lufthansa chose Miami as it’s third destination in the USA, according to Jens Bischof, member of the Lufthansa Passenger Airlines Board, because of the large number of German tourists that visit Miami and South Florida. Bischoff said at the later news conference, “We are extremely excited to introduce our new, flagship A380 aircraft as the very first in the Miami market. I applaud Miami International Airport’s management team for their determination to become A380-ready.”

To welcome the A380 to Miami, the “A380’s” of their age, the American Flagship Detroit DC-3 and the restored Eastern DC-7B preceded the A380 in landing on MIA’s runway 9 and taxied to concourse J to await the arrival.

The A380 will now be a daily fixture in Miami on the flights to and from Frankfurt.
