Sun Country Announces Summer Service to London

Sun Country Airlines on Tuesday announced new summer seasonal service between Minneapolis/St Paul (MSP) and London-Stansted (STN), with a stop to top off the tanks at Gander, Newfoundland (YQX).

The flights will be operated for Sun Country Vacations and will depart Minneapolis/St Paul on Fridays, returning from Stansted on Sundays. The flights will operate from June 11th through August 15th and will be operated by Sun Country’s B737-800 equipment, featuring both first class and economy seating. Stansted, Britains 3rd largest airport, is a large hub for European low cost giants Ryanair and Easyjet and provides access to over 160 destinations in 34 countries. A train station below the terminal offers service to central London every 15 minutes.

Fares start at $399 each way, which a brief glance at the travel search engines tells us is a solid margin less than Delta’s nonstop service to London-Heathrow (LHR).

Seems long to fly in a 737-800. Does it stop for fuel on the back from STN?

It was only a matter of time before one of these carriers did it from either side of the pond.
