January 13th in Aviation History: Air Florida 90 Crashes and First Single Rotor Helicopter Flight

The Air Florida Flight 90 disaster takes 78 lives in Washington DC, and an Uzbekistan Yak-42 crashes in Tashkent. In happier news, Igor Sikorsky makes the first successful single-rotor helicopter flight, Shuttle Endeavour launches on STS-54, and an ejection seat is used for the first time.

Delta Announces New Connecticut Flights to Las Vegas and Washington

Delta and US Airways Abandon Plan to Exchange Slots at LaGuardia and Reagan National Airports

In a letter to the Department of Transportation today, Delta Air Lines and US Airways said they are dropping a plan to swap slots at LaGuardia Airport in New York and Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
