On this date in 1871, Alphonse PĂ©naud achieves the first flight of an inherently stable airplane; in 1911, first flight of the F.E.2 biplane in England; in 1930, the first westbound crossing of the Atlantic; in 1932, the first solo westbound Atlantic crossing.
